Species Description

**Description:** A rare, shrubby wild plum native to the Appalachians, featuring small white flowers and dark, tart fruit.
**Size:** Grows 3 to 10 feet tall.
**Conservation:** Rare / Species of Concern. Threatened by habitat loss and competition from invasive shrubs.
**Identification:** Finely serrated, oblong leaves and small, dark purple plums. Provides an early nectar source for pollinators.
**Habitat:** Dry, rocky slopes and edges of oak-hickory forests.
