Species Description

**Description:** Common shrub found in sunny, wet areas; produces flat-topped clusters of white flowers and edible dark purple berries.
**Size:** Grows 6 to 12 feet tall.
**Human Use:** Berries are prized for jellies and wines. Provides a massive late-summer food source for migratory birds.
**Identification:** Features compound leaves with 5–9 leaflets and flat, umbrella-like flower clusters.
**Habitat:** Roadside ditches and the silty edges of the reservoir.
