Species Description
**Description:** A beautiful orange and black butterfly; very similar to the Painted Lady but distinguished by wing underside markings.
**Size:** Wingspan of 2 to 2.5 inches.
**Identification:** Look for a small white spot in the orange field of the forewing and two large eyespots on the hindwing underside.
**Life Cycle:** Caterpillars build tiny silk-and-leaf nests on Pearly Everlasting plants to hide from predators.
**Habitat:** Open fields, meadows, and along the grassy edges of the reservoir.
