Species Description

**Description:** A stout, warty amphibian with a light stripe down its back and large toxin-secreting parotoid glands behind the eyes.
**Size:** 2 to 4.5 inches long.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Males are smaller than females and have dark-colored throats during the spring breeding season.
**Behavior:** Famous for a long, musical trill that lasts up to 30 seconds. They absorb water through a specialized "drinking patch" on their bellies.
**Habitat:** Found in moist woods, gardens, and near campgrounds during rainy spring nights.
