Species Description

**Description:** A delicate woodland plant with tiny, snowflake-like flowers arranged along a tall, thin, leafless stalk.
**Size:** 6 to 12 inches tall.
**Identification:** Features a single pair of opposite leaves halfway up the stem. Individual flowers resemble tiny, fringed white stars.
**Behavior:** Uses a "splash cup" seed dispersal mechanism where raindrops hit the flower base to splash seeds out.
**Habitat:** Rich, moist soils of deciduous forests, often on mossy banks.
