**Description:** A large tree with dark, scaly bark that looks like "burnt potato chips," producing clusters of small black fruits.
**Size:** Reaches heights of 60–90 feet.
**Identification:** Crushed twigs have a strong scent of bitter almond. Leaves are long and narrow with fine teeth.
**Wildlife Value:** Cherries are a massive food source for over 70 species of birds and mammals.
**Habitat:** The ANF contains some of the finest Black Cherry stands in the world.
