Species Description

**Description:** A cheerful native wildflower with bright yellow, daisy-like petals and a dark brown, dome-shaped center.
**Size:** Reaches heights of 1 to 3 feet.
**Wildlife Value:** A favorite nectar source for bees and butterflies. Stems are covered in rough, bristly hairs to deter deer.
**Identification:** The "flower" is actually a cluster of hundreds of tiny individual florets.
**Habitat:** Meadows, roadsides, and clearings; often a "pioneer" species after forest disturbance.
