Species Description
**Description:** A stunning songbird with a brilliant, flaming orange throat and face, contrasted with a jet-black mask.
**Size & Weight:** 4.5–5.1 inches long. Weighs roughly 0.3 oz.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Males have the intense orange throat; females have a much paler yellow throat.
**Behavior:** Known as the "fire-throat." They prefer the very highest branches of the conifer canopy, making them hard to spot.
**Habitat:** Specialists of mature coniferous forests, particularly the tops of tall Eastern Hemlocks.
