Species Description

**Description:** A rare and striking bright blue crayfish; one of the most vividly colored invertebrates in the region.
**Size:** 2 to 3 inches long.
**Conservation:** Rare / Species of Concern. Highly dependent on clean groundwater and sensitive to chemical runoff.
**Identification:** Intense cobalt or sky-blue color. They are "primary burrowers" found in mud rather than open river channels.
**Habitat:** Mountain springs, hillside seepages, and cold, mucky bogs.
