Species Description
**Description:** A common damselfly where the male features a bright blue thorax and a vibrant blue abdominal tip.
**Size:** 1.3 to 1.7 inches long.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Males are bright blue and black; females are typically brown or dull gray.
**Behavior:** Named for their jerky, "dancing" flight style. Frequently seen "puddling" on damp sand to regulate body temperature.
**Habitat:** Slow-moving rivers and open sections of the reservoir.
