Species Description

**Description:** A beautiful dark-bodied salamander covered in brilliant sky-blue flecks. They have a slender body compared to other "mole" salamanders.
**Size:** 3.5–5.5 inches long.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Males are generally smaller and more slender than females and have a swollen vent during breeding.
**Life Cycle:** Rare / Species of Concern. Secretive and rarely seen outside of spring breeding; they have the amazing ability to regrow limbs and parts of their heart.
**Habitat:** Under logs or leaf litter in moist, high-elevation forests.
