Species Description
**Description:** A small, non-parasitic primitive fish. As adults, they do not eat and live only a few months to spawn.
**Size:** 4 to 6 inches long.
**Conservation:** Rare / Species of Concern. Highly vulnerable to stream siltation and chemical runoff.
**Behavior:** Beneficial native species and indicator of exceptional water quality. Larvae live buried in mud for several years.
**Habitat:** Headwaters of clean, cold mountain streams.
