Species Description

**Description:** The largest frog in North America, known for its deep, vibrating "jug-o-rum" call.
**Size:** Adults can reach 6–8 inches in body length.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** In males, the eardrum (tympanum) is significantly larger than the eye; in females, it is the same size or smaller.
**Behavior:** Voracious ambush predators that eat small birds, bats, and other frogs. Highly aquatic and rarely leaves the shoreline.
**Habitat:** Permanent waters of reservoir coves and larger beaver ponds.
