Species Description

**Description:** The largest moth in North America; features a reddish-orange body and brown wings decorated with red, white, and black crescent patterns.
**Size:** Staggering wingspan of 5 to 7 inches.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Males have larger, broader, more feathery antennae than females.
**Life Cycle:** Adults have no functional mouths and live only to mate. Caterpillars are bright green and can grow as large as a man's thumb.
**Habitat:** Deciduous forests where larvae feed on maple, birch, and cherry.
