Species Description
**Description:** The largest mantis in the region, reaching up to 5 inches. Features a vertical face stripe and powerful raptorial front legs.
**Size:** 3.5 to 5 inches long.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Females are much larger and heavier than males; males are slender and capable of sustained flight.
**Behavior:** Fierce ambush predators capable of taking down grasshoppers and even small hummingbirds. They can rotate their heads 180 degrees.
**Habitat:** Introduced in 1896; now common in forest edges, meadows, and gardens.
