Species Description
**Description:** A cryptic, nocturnal bird with long pointed wings featuring a bold white bar; related to the Whip-poor-will.
**Size & Weight:** 9–10 inches long with a 2-foot wingspan. Weighs 2–3.5 oz.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Males have a white throat patch and white tail bar; females have a buff throat and no tail bar.
**Behavior:** Aerial insectivores most active at dusk. Males perform "booming" dives during courtship. They perform long migrations to Argentina.
**Habitat:** Large rocky outcrops, gravel bars, and forest clearings.
