Allegheny Mountain Dusky Salamander

Species Description
**Description:** A high-elevation specialist salamander with a light, wavy-edged stripe down the back and a rounded tail.
**Size:** 2.7 to 4 inches long.
**Conservation:** Rare / Species of Concern. Vulnerable to climate change and loss of forest canopy shade.
**Behavior:** Agile and capable of leaping to escape shrews. Primarily nocturnal, emerging from rocky "dens" to hunt.
**Habitat:** Damp crevices of rocky outcrops, talus slopes, and near mountain spring headwaters.
