Species Description

**Description:** A native forest shrub with pairs of trumpet-shaped yellow flowers and reddish-brown stems.
**Size:** Typically grows 3 to 5 feet tall.
**Wildlife Value:** Critical early nectar source for returning bumblebee queens. Produces paired red berries eaten by songbirds.
**Identification:** Flowers always grow in identical pairs at the ends of short stalks.
**Habitat:** Moist, shaded woods and rocky stream banks.
