Species Description
**Description:** A silver, humped-back fish with a rounded tail; famous for the grunting or "drumming" sounds it makes.
**Size & Weight:** Typically 12โ20 inches. Weighs 1โ10 lbs or more.
**Behavior:** Males vibrate their swim bladder to create drumming sounds. They have heavy crushing teeth in their throat to eat mussels.
**Identification:** Unique lateral line that extends all the way through the tail fin. Possesses "lucky stones" (large ear bones) in the head.
**Habitat:** Found in the open waters of the Allegheny Reservoir.
