Species Description

**Description:** A massive aquatic insect with a flat, oval body and powerful front legs that look like pincers.
**Size:** 2–3 inches long.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** In some species, the female glues eggs to the male's back for him to carry until they hatch.
**Behavior:** Rare / Species of Concern. Fierce underwater predators that catch fish and frogs. They breathe through a short "snorkel" at the rear.
**Habitat:** Still, shallow waters of the reservoir and beaver ponds.
