**Description:** A medium-sized, elusive fox with a salt-and-pepper gray coat and a black stripe running down the top of its tail.
**Size & Weight:** 31–44 inches long (including tail). Weighs 7–13 lbs.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Males are slightly larger than females.
**Conservation:** Common but rarely seen due to its nocturnal and secretive habits.
**Habitat:** Prefers dense, brushy forest over open meadows; uniquely capable of climbing trees.
