Species Description

**Description:** A tall wildflower with spikes of vibrant blue, tubular flowers; often grows near Cardinal Flower.
**Size:** 2 to 3 feet tall.
**Behavior:** Primarily pollinated by bumblebees strong enough to pry open the lower petals to reach the nectar.
**Identification:** Features blue flower spikes and light-green, toothed leaves. Historically used as a treatment for various ailments.
**Habitat:** Wet meadows and silty banks of forest streams; prefers slightly less saturated soil than its red cousin.
