Green-winged Teal

Species Description
**Description:** A small, colorful dabbling duck; males have a dark reddish-brown head with a wide green stripe through the eye.
**Size & Weight:** 12–15 inches long. Weighs 0.5–1 lb.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Males are colorful; females are mottled brown with a bright green wing patch (speculum).
**Behavior:** Very fast fliers that travel in tight, erratic flocks. They feed on aquatic seeds and invertebrates in very shallow mud.
**Habitat:** Shallow marshes, beaver ponds, and quiet reservoir coves.
