Species Description

**Description:** A thorny, climbing woody vine with heart-shaped leaves and small clusters of dark berries.
**Size:** Can climb 20+ feet into the forest canopy using stretchy tendrils.
**Wildlife Value:** Provides essential winter cover and critical survival food (berries) for towhees and sparrows when other sources are buried.
**Identification:** Look for prominent green thorns and "stretchy" tendrils. Often forms dense, impenetrable thickets.
**Habitat:** Common along forest edges and in disturbed areas.
