Species Description

**Description:** A strange larva with eight fleshy, hairy, leg-like projections that mimic debris or a dead spider to deter predators.
**Size:** Small, reaching 0.6 inches in length.
**Conservation:** Rare / Species of Concern. A unique member of the slug moth family that moves with a slow, gliding motion.
**Behavior:** Fleshy projections can break off if grabbed by a bird, allowing the caterpillar to escape unharmed.
**Habitat:** Underside of leaves on shrubs like Witch Hazel and Oak.
