Species Description

**Description:** A medium-sized woodpecker with a powerful beak and solid white outer tail feathers.
**Habitat:** Mature forests like Hearts Content; prefers large trees for foraging on trunks of ancient oaks and hemlocks.
**Identification:** Bill is roughly the same length as its head. Excavates deep holes that later provide nesting sites for Bluebirds and Flying Squirrels.
