Species Description

**Description:** A brown forest bird with a distinct reddish tail and a spotted breast; known for its flute-like, ethereal song.
**Size & Weight:** 6.7–8.3 inches long. Weighs 0.8–1.5 oz.
**Behavior:** Frequently "flicks" its tail when perched. Shy ground forager that flips over damp leaves to find insects.
**Habits:** The first spotted thrush to return in spring; often continues singing into late August.
**Habitat:** Cool, moist hemlock ravines and deep shaded forest floors.
