**Description:** A striking yellow-to-brown moth featuring dramatic blue-and-black eyespots on the hindwings.

**Sexual Dimorphism:** Males are bright yellow; females are a deeper reddish-brown or purple-brown.
**Life Cycle:** The caterpillar is bright green with a distinct red-and-white lateral stripe and is covered in toxic, stinging spines.
**Behavior:** Like other silk moths, adults do not feed. They use their eyespots as a primary defense against birds.
**Habitat:** Meadows and deciduous forest edges.
