Species Description

**Description:** A silvery, deep-bodied fish with a small mouth; a cold-water member of the salmon family.
**Size & Weight:** Typically 15–20 inches long; can reach over 10 lbs.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Females are generally larger than males.
**Behavior:** They travel in large schools and spawn over rocky reefs in late autumn. Known as "humpbacks" as they age due to a developing arch in the back.
**Habitat:** Found in the deepest, coldest open waters of the Allegheny Reservoir.
