Species Description

**Description:** A trailing evergreen vine found in acidic bogs, producing large, tart red berries in the fall.
**Size:** Leaves are 0.5 inches long; berries reach 0.5 to 0.75 inches.
**Behavior:** Berries have internal air chambers, allowing them to float. This is an adaptation for seed dispersal during autumn floods.
**Identification:** Features small, waxy leaves and pink flowers with petals that look like the head of a crane.
**Habitat:** Restricted to high-plateau peat bogs and mucky glacial wetlands.
