Species Description

**Description:** The smallest and most energetic of the eastern Empidonax flycatchers, featuring two bold white wing bars.
**Size & Weight:** 4.7–5.5 inches long. Weighs roughly 0.35 oz.
**Identification:** Best identified by its sharp, snapping "che-BEK" song, often repeated hundreds of times an hour.
**Behavior:** Highly territorial; they form dense clusters of territories and will aggressively chase larger birds away from their site.
**Habitat:** Open deciduous woods and forest edges near the reservoir.
