Species Description
**Description:** A small bat with glossy dark brown fur and a "pug-like" face. Essential for controlling nocturnal insect populations.
**Size & Weight:** 3.1–3.7 inches long with a 9–11 inch wingspan. Weighs 0.2–0.5 oz.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Females are generally larger than males.
**Behavior:** Uses echolocation to hunt 1,000 mosquito-sized insects per hour. Can live over 30 years.
**Habitat:** Forages over the reservoir and forest clearings; roosts in hollow trees or old buildings.
**Conservation:** Highly threatened by White-Nose Syndrome.
