Species Description

**Description:** A bright orange and black insect that lives exclusively on milkweed plants, feeding on the seeds.
**Size:** 0.4 to 0.7 inches long.
**Identification:** Features long black antennae and a distinct black band across the middle of the orange wings.
**Behavior:** Like the Monarch, they store toxic chemicals from milkweed in their bodies; their bright orange color serves as an aposematic warning to predators.
**Habitat:** Found in meadows and forest openings where Common Milkweed grows.
