**Description:** A small tree of high ridges that produces massive, heavy clusters of brilliant red-orange berries in late autumn.
**Size:** Typically grows 15 to 30 feet tall.
**Identification:** Not a true ash, but a member of the Rose family. Features compound leaves with 11–17 leaflets.
**Wildlife Value:** The berries are a critical high-energy survival food for Cedar Waxwings and Pine Grosbeaks during winter storms.
**Habitat:** Cool, high-elevation ridges and rocky outcrops.
