Mourning Warbler

Species Description
**Description:** A secretive songbird with a bright yellow belly and a gray "hood"; males feature a large, ragged black "bib" on the chest.
**Size & Weight:** 4.7–5.9 inches long. Weighs roughly 0.4 oz.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Males have a prominent black bib; females have a plain gray hood and no bib.
**Behavior:** Extremely shy and difficult to observe; they prefer to stay hidden in dense tangles of briars and blackberries.
**Habitat:** Disturbed "messy" areas like recent clearcuts and powerline rights-of-way.
