Species Description
**Description:** A powerful and secretive forest hawk featuring a slate-gray back and a distinct white eye-stripe over a piercing red eye.
**Size & Weight:** 21–25 inches long with a wingspan up to 46 inches. Weighs 1.5–3 lbs.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Females are significantly larger and more aggressive than males.
**Behavior:** Rare / Species of Concern. Built for high-speed maneuverability through dense branches to hunt grouse and squirrels. Known for ferocity when defending nests.
**Habitat:** Requires large, unbroken blocks of mature forest for nesting.
