**Behavior:** Known as "earthmovers" that live in permanent underground tunnels. They amplify their chirping by using the tunnel entrance like a megaphone.
**Identification:** They look like a strange hybrid between a cricket and a common mole, with a velvety, brown body.
**Habitat:** Damp, sandy soil along the banks of the Allegheny River and reservoir.
