**Size & Weight:** 20–30 inches long. Weighs 1–2.5 lbs.
**Habitat:** Large, open bodies of water and wetlands like Buzzard Swamp during migration.
**Behavior:** Fast and graceful fliers; they forage in shallow water but require large "runways" of open water for takeoff.
