Species Description

**Description:** A large forest tree with pointed leaf lobes and dark bark featuring long, smooth "ski track" ridges.
**Size:** One of the fastest-growing oaks, reaching heights of 70–90 feet.
**Identification:** Leaves have 7 to 11 lobes, each ending in a sharp bristle-tip.
**Wildlife Value:** Produces large acorns that are a critical winter food for squirrels, turkeys, and bears.
**Habitat:** Valuable timber tree found in well-drained upland soils across the plateau.
