**Description:** Large raptors with white underparts, dark brown upperparts, and a distinct dark eye stripe.
**Size & Weight:** 21–24 inches long with a 5–6 foot wingspan. Weighs 3–4.5 lbs.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Females are larger and often have a darker "necklace" of streaks on their breast.
**Habitat:** Patrol the open waters of the Allegheny Reservoir and major rivers for fish.
**Behavior:** The only raptors that dive completely underwater to catch fish; they use barbed pads on their feet for grip.
