Species Description

**Description:** A low-growing, evergreen trailer with pairs of round, shiny leaves and bright red berries.
**Size:** Trailing vines can reach 12 inches in length; leaves are roughly 0.5 inches wide.
**Identification:** The berries are unique, formed from the fusion of two separate white flowers, showing two distinct flower scars or "dimples."
**Wildlife Value:** Remains green and buried under snow, providing vital winter food for Ruffed Grouse and Wild Turkeys.
**Habitat:** Common on the forest floor in both deciduous and coniferous woods.
