Red Fox

Species Description
**Description:** A small, dog-like mammal with a bright rusty-red coat, white chest, and a massive, bushy white-tipped tail.
**Size & Weight:** 36–42 inches long (including tail). Weighs 10–15 lbs.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Males (dogs) are slightly larger and heavier than females (vixens).
**Identification:** Unlike the Gray Fox, the Red Fox always features black "stockings" on its legs and a white tail tip.
**Habitat:** Forest edges and open meadows where they hunt for rodents.
**Behavior:** Uses its large tail (brush) as a blanket to keep its nose and feet warm while sleeping in snow.
