Species Description

**Description:** A very slender snake with three yellow stripes. They look similar to Garter Snakes but are much thinner with a noticeably longer tail.
**Size:** Typically 18–26 inches in length.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Females are generally larger and thicker than males.
**Behavior:** Rare / Species of Concern. Lightning-fast and semi-aquatic; they specialize in eating amphibians and dive into water to escape predators.
**Habitat:** Almost exclusively along the grassy edges of streams, beaver ponds, and the reservoir.
