Rose-breasted Grosbeak

Species Description
**Description:** A stocky songbird with a massive, pale bill. Breeding males are striking with black heads and a brilliant triangular red chest patch.
**Size & Weight:** 7–8.3 inches long. Weighs 1.2–1.7 oz.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Extreme. Males have the "rose" bib; females look like large, heavily streaked sparrows with bold white eyebrows.
**Behavior:** Known for a "sweet" song resembling a Robin. Unusually, both parents sing while sitting on the nest.
**Habitat:** Deciduous and mixed forests with tall trees and a healthy shrub layer.
