**Description:** A small, "stiff-tailed" duck. Breeding males are unmistakable with a vibrant sky-blue bill, white cheek patches, and a rich chestnut body.
**Size & Weight:** 14–16 inches long. Weighs 1–1.3 lbs.
**Habitat:** Calm forest ponds and sheltered coves with abundant underwater vegetation.
**Behavior:** Highly aquatic; they rarely leave the water and perform unique "bubbling" displays during courtship.
