Species Description

**Description:** A tiny, secretive owl about the size of a Robin, with a large round head, yellow eyes, and no ear tufts.
**Size & Weight:** 7–8.5 inches tall. Weighs 2.3–5.3 oz.
**Sexual Dimorphism:** Females are larger and heavier than males.
**Behavior:** Named after its call, which resembles a saw being sharpened on a whetstone. Extremely docile and strictly nocturnal.
**Habitat:** Dense coniferous or mixed forests, often roosting close to tree trunks.
