Species Description

**Description:** A large sucker fish with a small head and vibrant reddish-orange fins.
**Size & Weight:** Typically 12 to 18 inches. Weighs 1 to 3 lbs.
**Behavior:** Biological indicators of a very healthy river ecosystem. They migrate into smaller tributaries in spring to spawn over gravel.
**Identification:** Features bright red tail color and a "sucker" mouth positioned underneath the head for bottom feeding.
**Habitat:** Clean, clear, and fast-moving main channels of the Allegheny River.
