Species Description
**Description:** A small butterfly with striking rows of shimmering silver spots on the underside of its hindwings.
**Size:** Wingspan of 1.4 to 1.8 inches.
**Identification:** The silver spots on the wing underside appear like "sequins" when perched. More tied to wetlands than larger fritillaries.
**Behavior:** Low, rapid flight style. Caterpillars feed on various species of marsh violets.
**Habitat:** Thrives in wet meadows and marshy edges.
