**Description:** A medium-sized bat with dark fur tipped in silver, giving it a distinct "frosted" or "hoary" appearance.
**Size & Weight:** 3.5–4.5 inches long with an 11–13 inch wingspan. Weighs 0.3–0.4 oz.
**Conservation:** Rare / Species of Concern. Vulnerable to habitat loss and wind energy expansion along ridges.
**Behavior:** Slow, highly maneuverable fliers that hunt moths over forest ponds. Often migrate south for winter.
**Habitat:** Mature forests; roosts in tree cavities and behind loose bark.
