Species Description

**Description:** A large black salamander covered in silver flecks; it gets its name from the incredibly sticky mucus it secretes.
**Size:** 4.7 to 6.7 inches long.
**Identification:** Features a "night sky" appearance. Much stouter than the Red-backed Salamander.
**Behavior:** The glue-like slime is a powerful defense that can take days of scrubbing to remove from human skin.
**Habitat:** Mature hardwood forests, typically found inside rotting stumps or under large logs.
